Sarah Graduates: Part Three – The Ceremony!

Posted on June 4, 2014

Sarah is an official graduate! Of high school!

Image

Kent and I were talking last night about how neither of us were really raised to believe that graduating high school was a high accomplishment, a college education was inevitable and expected. Regardless.. I’ve taken over 1,000 photos in the last four days and I love a reason to get excited and celebrate.

Pictures in the band room – easily the best part of the night. Not because I wasn’t starving yet at 10 PM, not because I still had my sanity… but because there was AIR CONDITIONING. Yes, the graduation ceremony had no. air. conditioning.

Enough complaining though, there were a bunch of cute caps to look at and it was an important night for my sister. She’s three years younger than me, doesn’t have a license, but is by far the sweetest, kindest & most patient person I’ve come in contact with. Not to mention her strange, strange, STRANGE sense of humor and insane hair doin’ skillz. I love her to the moon + there were no tears last night, ’cause she’s UCF bound in less than a month!!

Sarah Graduates: Part two – Downtown Photobombz

Posted on June 2, 2014

Another post in which I upload large amounts of photos in regard to my bb sister’s high school graduation. First and foremost, the best part of graduation is the (decorated) caps. Sarah and her friends and all I ran around downtown and took graduation photos this afternoon. They’re all going to different schools, FSU, UF, UCF, and even out of state. SO: we needed photos!!

SB graduates tomorrow night, so another bomb is incoming shortly. xo!

I GRADUATED COLLEGE

Posted on May 4, 2014

Happy Sunday! Sitting in bed, watching crime shows and applying for jobs. But first, lemme make a blog post ;)

My family and Kent came into town this weekend for my graduation from UCF. I graduated with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, which means instead of one major, I had three minors. I studied mass communication, creative writing, and public affairs. IDS is apart of the College of Undergraduate Studies, which meant I didn’t have to wait in a long line to pick up my cap and gown AND my graduation ceremony was miraculously short!

But first – lunch @ Lazy Moon.

Nobody takes my picture requests seriously.. Image

Kent graduated from UCF a year and a day before I did. Since the weather on his graduation was borderline hurricane status and the forecast predicted the same for Saturday, we prepared for the worst. We can blame the drizzle for all the photos we took inside the parking garage.

My thugs :)

Since the weather was awful the day Kent graduated, we never got any photos together. So I made him put on my cap and gown so we could fake some photos.

When we filed in to the arena, they had us sit in the old arena for an hour and then we walked into the arena. When I walked in, I could see Mom was leaning over the rail taking photos and I was so preoccupied finding the rest of my family in the stands that the line ahead of me was already sitting by the time the girl behind me said, “are you going to move?” Oops.

The weather held off though and after a veeeery quick 1.5 hour ceremony, we walked outside to chilly weather. Mom was crying, my feet hurt, there were crowds of people EVERYWHERE.

I was practically dying of starvation, so we left for sushi pretty soon after leaving graduation.

Image

Hibachi and so. much. sushi. Kent was kind enough to photo us walrus-ing at dinner :)

Dad got a little crazy & may have hit mom in the face with his chopstick..

Kent had to leave last night for work this morning, so the girls stayed at my apartment last night. Honestly, I couldn’t have asked for a better weekend, a better family, a more loving boyfriend. When Kent got in Friday night, we celebrated his graduation anniversary by eating at the same restaurant we did a year earlier. Now, to find a job ;)

SARAH TURNS 18

Posted on January 26, 2014

When I turned 18, my Mom tracked down an antique Chinese box. It was made of dark polished wood and I’ve used it ever since to hold letters and other keepsakes I wanted to hold onto. It’s one of those things I’ll hold onto forevz, but other than that – I can’t tell you anything about my eighteenth birthday. I remember a friend of mine bringing me cake to school, but that’s about it.

January came around and Sarah’s birthday got closer but we all hit a roadblock – SB is impossible to shop for and is notoriously tight lipped about her wishes. Mom wanted to get her a session with a local photographer, since all her friends are separating for college soon – and the idea of that totally freaked out Sarah. So I told her since I’d be home for her birthday anyways, I’d take her picture.

We all corralled downtown at 4-ish, went walkin’ in search of some pretty backgrounds + here’s what we ended up with:

^ SB was a good sport and let Libz come alongImage^ and then they dropped her on the ground

^ She is so darn purty.
At dinner last night Mom told her she hides her blue eyes behind her glasses – AND IT’S SO TRUE!

Image

^ I made these “where the wild things are”-esque crowns and forced everyone to wear them ;)

^ my favorite one of the day

^ every year for her birthday SB asks for pumpkin cake, which is like Mom’s pumpkin bread in a really big bundt cake. Anyone who’s my/Sarah/Libby’s friend has had Maj’s pumpkin bread and they can attest for it’s ridiculousdeliciousness. We ate Mario’s for dinner and then had pumpkin cake with homemade orange-y cream cheese frosting. HOW CAN I NOT LOVE COMING HOME? Back to Orlando in t-minus two hours & back to the school/work grind with my first test on Wednesday night :(((

Indecisive this week y’all: I’ve been playing these two on repeat for days
